I know I should probably use this blog to earnestly promote items in my shop, and say how great they are, and I probably should NOT make fun of how terrible a design is, but....
I can't help it.
Look at this:
This pilgrim costume (Butterick 3556, Available in my shop by clicking this link) is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
I mean yes, if you wear this, everyone will know you're a pilgrim, but it's so hilariously wrong that I just keep looking at the picture and laughing.
For example, here are some actual examples early 1600s clothing:
Notice how FIT is important here? Like... fitted to the body?
What is up with Butterick Pilgrim's baggy sleep shirt with non-functional buttons on the front? Those baggy sleeves! The lack of waistline?!?! LOL I just can't stop laughing at how silly he looks.
It's like if Marty went back to the Past wearing this and the actual pilgrims would think he was an alien.
The other costumes in the pattern are much better:
I guess it's about as accurate as our cultural portrayal of pilgrims, anyway. The other costumes are a lot more fun.
Please check them out and more in our shop: http://clutterina.etsy.com !
